Article

In the web hosting industry, bandwidth refers to the amount of data that is transferred from the server to a client computer within a certain period of usage.

Typically measured in GB (Gigabytes) it should not be confused with Data Transfer which is measured in Mbps (MegaBits Per Second).

Bandwidth is the amount of data that can be concurrently moved between the hosting server and your browsers. Our servers all have a pair of 1Gbps (Gigabits per second) uplinks to the internet. Data Transfer allocations with our plans are a metric of how much data you can move over the available bandwidth.

On a plan with 1000GB (GigaBytes) of Data Transfer, you would need to push data at a rate of 100Mbps (MegaBits per second) Bandwidth being used for a period of more than an entire day. Most typical websites use less than 100Kbps (Kilobots per Second) or 0.01Mbps and therefore transfer a very small amount of data every month.

You can rest assured that Namesco has the Bandwidth to ensure your site is visible when it needs to be!
