Mail Filters (also known as Mail Rules) allow you to setup actions to be taken when an incoming message meets certain criteria. Common uses of mail filters are to move messages from certain people to a folder, or to forward the message someone else.

To create a mail filter:-

  • Click Mail Filters/Rules on the Settings menu.
  • Click Create New Filter.
  • Type a name for the rule (e.g. Move messages from Joe Bloggs).
  • Select the match type (see below).
  • Select the field you want to check (e.g. From).
  • Select the type of match to perform (e.g. Contains).
  • Type the text you want to match (e.g. joe@bloggs.com).
  • To add more rules click the [+] button and repeat the above steps.
  • Select the action to perform (e.g. Move to).
  • Select the folder or type the forward to recipient's e-mail address (depends on the action you have chosen).
  • To add more actions click the [+] button and repeat the above steps.
  • Click Create Filter to create the mail filter.

Match types
When using the "match all" type, all the conditions will need to be met for the action to be triggered. When using the "match any" type then the action will be performed if any of the conditions are met. If there is only 1 condition set, the match type is not used.
