The security tool has been implemented by Plesk for many years, however it was not installed by default on older versions. With the introduction of Plesk Obsidian, the most recent version at the time of this guide, Fail2Ban, has been installed by default.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have an older version of Plesk and do not want to upgrade (or cannot) to Plesk Obsidian, please check out our guide <a href=\"https:\/\/www.register365.com\/support\/articles\/how-to-install-fail2ban-on-a-plesk-server\/(opens in a new tab)\">How to install Fail2Ban on a Plesk server<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, it needs to be enabled to start protecting specific services (daemons) of your server, so please follow these steps to enable it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Log into Plesk via <a href=\"https:\/\/XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:8443\">https:\/\/XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:8443<\/a> , where the X\u2019s represent the IP address of your server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Click on &#8220;<strong>Tools &amp; Settings<\/strong>&#8221; from the menu on the left-hand side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On the Security section, click on &#8220;<strong>IP Address Banning (Fail2Ban)<\/strong>&#8221; as shown in the pictures below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"702\" src=\"https:\/\/www.register365.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Picture1-1-1024x702.jpg\" alt=\"Plesk Tools &amp; Settings\" class=\"wp-image-1735\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.register365.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Picture1-1-1024x702.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.register365.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Picture1-1-300x206.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.register365.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Picture1-1-768x527.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.register365.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Picture1-1-50x34.jpg 50w, https:\/\/www.register365.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Picture1-1.jpg 1213w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You may want to take a look at the Jails menu before enabling Fail2Ban.
