How to change your FTP password
For customers using one of our Apache Hosting packages, we recommend the following FTP details:
Host: ftp.reg365.net
User: your domain (without the www’s at the start)
If you are unsure of the password, or need to reset it, please follow the instructions below.
Once logged into your Control Panel, click on your domain (if you have more than one), and look for the Hosting Settings drop-down menu.
Choose the option called FTP Users.
This will take you to a page that displays any FTP Users for that domain. By default there will always be one, with a username that matches your domain. This user is the one that we recommend you use for all FTP activities, but any other users you may have created will also be displayed.
You will note that the default FTP user cannot be deleted, but can be disabled if required.
Clicking on an FTP user will take you in to manage the settings for that user.
There are two boxes here that allow you to set a new FTP password, and the indicator below shows you how secure your password is.
Please note the following minimum requirements for the password:
- Must contain at least eight characters
- Must contain an uppercase character
- Must contain a lowercase character
- Must contain a number
- Must contain a symbol
- Must NOT be based on a dictionary word
When you have entered the password in both boxes click on Save to store it to the system.
If you keep seeing an error message stating that the password is based on a dictionary word, then we recommend replacing some of the letters with symbols or numbers. For example, the letter a could be replaced with @ and the letter e could be replaced with the number 3. You could also add exclamation marks to either the start or end of the password.
